Dudley the Do-Nothing
Love the Ivy League connections.

Hate on the game.

Certainly better than many. But one of the "top centers" of the NBA? A "great big man"? puh-lease.

The return of Grand Hank
To those who know and love him, or know him and merely tolerate him, word out of the Izzie is that Henry will be back in the states for a few weeks, come October 12.

A classic Hank video to get the kids excited.

To those who have no idea of whom I speak...your loss.

Hey, I'm thrilled for Shaun Alexander, but couldn't he have celebrated the birth of his daughter Kobe-style? (That would be pre-June sex scandal, old school Kobe style). Don't these athletes with "priorities outside football" realize they're killing us fantasy GMs out here?

When are we getting another hurricane? A few more days off from work never hurt anyone.

I was in Atlantic City this weekend, which happened--completely coincidentally--to be the weekend of the Miss America pageant. Unfortunately, as the actual competition was on Saturday night, none of us actually wanted to spend the evening watching the show--but that didn't stop an attempt to place odds on the winners. In a surprise upset, unseeded candidate Miss Florida pulled out a huge victory. I had taken underdog Miss New Hampshire to win, with Miss Oklahoma placing and Miss Alabama (sight unseen, but they usually represent) to show. Not quite on target, but at least I was reasonably close.

Atlantic City is a place where dreams can be made and crushed...my illusions were definitely shattered. The chain-smoking, heavily made-up Miss North Carolina was a real (rotten) southern peach to walk next to on the boardwalk; she was less than regal as she trashed her competitors. I don't think I even knew some of the words she was using. Ouch.

Closed for business!
After a week of build-up, we'll find out hyped or horrible Isabel will be.

People flee North Carolina.

My basement apartment trembles. It doesn't want to get wet. For that matter, me neither.
